There’ll be none of this drying the dishes nonsense for Zee Homebug. Look, she’s put her Eep! teatowels in frames! Ah, good to see my work finally getting the respect it deserves ;).
Hi Heather, Love the framed tea towels! I may have to do that to mine when they arrive, one is mine and the rest are Christmas gifts! Contgrats. on the Elle SA blog job! What fun!!! Love your designs, keep it up!
Well, yes… we were given one oh-so-kindly as a gift, to replace the rather filthy rags that pass for ‘tea-towels’ in our neglected kitchen. But it’s too beautiful and immaculate, and I haven’t had the heart to mar its pristine surface. I just take it out of the drawer regularly to admire.
You’re all so sweet! Thanks for all the supportive comments.
And to the anonymous lurker, I’m not sure. You reckon someone would buy an ex-teatowel print on paper? I’d be happy to try it. Actually, I have an ex-paper print of black birds I’m thinking of putting on a teatowel in red. Whatcha think?
You don’t need to feel like it’s “only” an ex-tea towel print. A great design is a great design! It could work as anything you like – a notecard, a framed print etc. The fact that someone is already framing a tea towel and putting it up on their wall demonstartes that. In fact, I think some people love the design but feel like your tea towels are almost “too good” to use and would like something that’s intended to be more permanent.
I guess the key would be to make the print in a colour that’s not available as a tea towel or cushion eg. spoons in brown or eep in gold or summer weeds in black and white etc.
Thanks for the ideas, mysterious Lurker. I’d never thought of presenting the same prints in different media and formats. It’s a good idea – much appreciated. Watch this space… Heather
On Friday, while working in my studio, I was disturbed by tiny piercing shrieks coming from Medina’s studio. I rushed through to find a shaggy-haired young paintbrush being besieged by his hysterical canvas fans. I grabbed my camera and managed to get this shot, but wouldn’t you know, my camera jammed just as the paintbrush …
Today was the Day the Wall got Painted in my space at Silk & Cotton. I got a professional in, as I feared I might not have the energy to paint a 7m x 3m wall, and I’m so pleased I did, as it took just one day, and it looks awesome. I was planning …
Holiday snaps – TuscanyWe spent our time in Tuscany with Paul’s family, all staying on an organic wine and olive farm called Tenuta San Vito in Fior di Selva. We had an extraordinary time there, and it is just as magical as it appears in these pics: And away from the farm? Well, those medieval …
Last week was all helter skelter and heaving things about as we got ready for Saturday’s Open Studio, and this week sees paintbrushes wielded, powertools out, and lots of thoughtful expressions, as we prepare for… The Skinny laMinx showroom! 21 sq/m of Skinny retail delight inside the Silk & Cotton Co. in Greenpoint, Cape Town. …
