Mountain Garden
Mountain Garden
While I was away, Rooms on View opened and closed its doors, and so now I can finally show the plates I made for South Africa House!
Jesse and I were asked to make a table setting of 6 dinner plates and 6 side plates, that would be set together on a table. We worked in the same colours, using ceramics transfers, but our final results were quite different (see Jesse's here).
My designs were simply drawings of little plants and weeds that I'd collected on a walk on Table mountain, and you can see some of those sketches here. I call the designs Mountain Garden, because we almost have the mountain as our back garden.
Enough chatter, here are my plates. First dinner plates, followed by side plates:

Now, the sideplates, each of which has a dinner plate friend:

Both Jesse and I really enjoyed working with ceramics tranfers, and it was such a great project. All these plates got sold at the show, but watch this space, cos I'm keen to make more.I also designed a table napkin for South Africa House, and have some to sell in my Etsy shop. Keep an eye out for them later this week, and also for a tutorial on ceramics transfers.
